Water Level: 929.3 Normal Pool 915.00 Water Temperature: Low 70's main lake Water Color: Clear up shallow and good color around the rest of the lake. Creek Arms James, Long Creek are stained, White River Shell Knob to Camel Point down stream is clear. Air Temperature: 80’s Wind Condition: Windy Forecast: Mostly cloudy chances of rain everyday BASS Bass Fishing is changing daily Fishing has changed on table rock, spawn is just about done and the fish are moving around from shallow to deep in there post spawn patterns. . I'm still finding fish fish out much deeper on the flat main lake points in the 35 - 50 foot range, one day suspended in 25 feet of water, next day on the bottom in 25 to 30 feet of water. Suspended fish are being caught by swimming a grub through the depth of these fish and with drop shot rigs right at the same depth. Fish located on the bottom are good for football jigs, spilt shot rigs, tubes and shakey jigs dragged slow on the bottom. Long Creek Area: Fair to Good Dam area, Indian Point to Kimberling City Area: Slow Baxter Area to Shell Knob Area: Best Bite James River Area: Good Taneycomo: Good Best Bet Early and Late Top Water The top water bite is coming into play with these suspended fish as well, look for fish to start breaking water chasing shad in deeper water on the main lake points or the sides of these points. Calm cloudy days are still the best but early morning before sunrise works well also. Cast a Mikey JR or another red fin type bait just past the fish breaking water water and roll back to the boat slow, fish will swim up behind the bait and suck it in. Spooks are starting to work as well I throw a Bonnie 95 from Jackall Baits, this is a very easy bait to walk the dog with do to it's design anyone can make it work. Cast into the flooded tree lines and walk back out to the boat. Even better if you can get back into the trees and cast along the flooded hard woods and walk back to the boat. Best Bet During the Day Dragging Shakey jigs out in deeper water on main lake points and secondary points in the 20 - 35 foot range. 5/16th to 3/8 ounce shakey jigs rigged with a 6" watermelon green trick worm and dipping the tail in chartreuse spike it. Slow drag the bait back to the boat feeling for the bite. Carolina Rigged Baby Brush Hogs in green pepper on the same points and the same water depth. Slow dragged back to the boat feeling for the fish to load up and the bait. Starting to search for fish out in the deeper parts of the lake, deep trees and docks will also start to produce here really soon as these fish move to there summer hanging outs. Deep water docks will start to hold these post spawn fish in good numbers as these fish follow the shad out to deep water. Drop Shot rig will be the rig of choice here really soon as these fish really start to suspend. If you really want to learn how to drop shot the time is coming soon, learn how to search out these deep water haunts and understand what your electronics are showing you. Learn the different types of bites, how to set the hook, how to rig your drop shot, what type of equipment is used, plus much more. Call Capt. Don and lets setup a deep water trip it can open a whole new way to fish that everyone in the family can enjoy. Trout Fishing Trout fishing is starting to pickup again, the lower area of Taneycomo is starting to produce some good fishing with current, but can be slow with no current at all. COE keeps running only a few generators a day keeping the water at a good flow but shallow up in the trophy zone. We are dragging power bait on a 2 pound leader from the cooper creek area to just past the Branson Landing area. Colors are White, Sunrise, Chartreuse and Bubble Gum on the bottom or just suspended off the bottom. If you find a spot with fish stay there, fish are bunched up in groups right now, Sunday on a trip we had our limit in 30 minutes in just one spot. Will keep reporting my findings I will be on the water everyday as summer gets into full swing. If you are coming in or through the Springfield area stop by and pickup all of your tackle needs at Wildcat Tackle, stop and see Marty he can get you rigged up with everything you will need from Ardent Reels, to JackAll Baits, to drop shot weights and hooks just about anything you will need Marty has it, tell him Capt. Don Sent you.
